Abstract
Increased speed of electric motors leads to the fact that power and kinematic actuators require mechanical transmissions with higher transmission ratios to which are also requested increasingly stiffer demands, including: reduced weight and dimensions; simple, highly productive technologies based on new materials usage (plastics, metal powders); high load capacity and efficiency; low noise and vibration; low cost. These requirements can be mainly met by precessional transmissions with multi-pair engagement, which are a new type of mechanical transmissions. Design and technological features of the precessional transmissions require performing fundamental research in the following directions: - constructive development of the precessional transmissions in terms of elaboration: of new kinematic structures optimized in structural terms; of methods of strength calculation based on numerical methods with plenary consideration of kinematic and dynamic factors of influence; of new methods of machine parts design based on finite element analysis; of experimental research methods and data processing; - development of industrial technologies for non-standard gears fabrication based on traditional (plastic deformation, milling and grinding, foundry casting, pressing with sintering of metal powders etc.) and non-traditional (by electrodischarge, laser, electron beam etc.) methods; - choosing and researching of new materials for gears, which ensure high reliability, accuracy and productivity of the wheels with non-standard tooth profiles, self-lubricating properties, low noise and vibration, low cost. The project will be based on the great research experience in the field of planetary precessional transmissions accumulated over 20 years and on the creative-scientific potential of the authors. This will allow further scientific research across the spectrum of the main outstanding issues for large-scale exploitation of the precessional planetary transmissions. The expected research results will consist in new gears, new technologies for the manufacturing of non-standard tooth profile in industrial conditions and modern schemes of precessional transmissions that will contain patentable items.
