Abstract:
The given article highlights the process and the interpretation trends of the thematic subjects from the Moldovan figurative paintings in the late 60ies. A great interest for the representation of the ethnographic character of figurative images through a specific epic- ballad vision has been noticed during this period. This interpretative way supports a more familiar presentation of the "military-patriotic" subject which was promoted intensively at those times, providing for the figurative images some ballad-legendary qualities, characteristic to the national typology. The epic-ballad character of the figurative feature becomes notorious in the national painting, promoting major idea concepts focused on the human, spiritual, cultural and national values. The subjects ' message seeks to promote cultural and artistic values of the national tradition. The evolution of postwar figurative painting is notable for the frequent plastic and semantic changes, which configure a continuous forward-looking progress. The most significant creative and artistic change is noticed in the paintings from the early 60ies, through the decoration and monumentalism trends of the plastic form. The figurative image of the paintings from that period pronounces the national character typology with cultural and artistic predilection of the people. In these plastic implementations, a new interpretive vision is formed, that is interested in the development of deeply personalized ethnic and cultural qualities of the figures. These intentions favor the appearance of new plastic and semantic formulations provided with profound significant metaphoric and symbolic relationships, which shape the plastic image in a concise and representative manner.
