Abstract
The goal of this project is to develop new multifunctional nanomaterials with various spatial nanoarchitectures and nanoelectronic device elements on the basis of nitrides, oxides, and chalcogenides for buiomedical applications. Among the strong points, one should mention the highly qualified research staff, and the modern technological infrastructure created at the National Center for Materials Study and Testing, the Chair of Microelectronics and Biomedical Engineering, and the Chair of Physics, which are the participants of this project. The new technologies developed and tested in previous years, such as Surface Charge Lithography recognized worldwide, methods of deposition of nanostructured oxide films at relatively low temperatures, methods of preparation core/shell structures, physical, chemical, and electrochemical methods of obtaining nanostructured chalcogenide glasses, etc. These technologies will be developed further for the production of various nanostructured, such as nanowires, nanomebranes, nanotubes, nanoarchitectures assembled via position specific growth of metal oxides, nitrides, and chalcogenides with functionalized surface in a controlled mode, as well as arrays of two- and three-dimensional nanostructures for biomedical applications, particularly for study and implementation of methods for localized electrical stimulation of living cells by using biocompatible solid state nanostructures with piezoelectric properties. Biocompatible microcapsules from gallium nitride with wall width of about 10-20 nm will be developed for the transportation of drug substances in tissues. Chemical and biological sensors will be developed on the basis of nanostructures with huge specific surfaces, including those using micro-electro-mechanical and nano-electro-mechanical systems. The produced nanostructures will be subjected to treatment under various conditions, doping with different chemical elements, and functionalization through deposition of metal nanodots and formation of nanoclusters for increasing the sensibility of chemical and biological sensors and achieving their selectivity with respect to different analytes
