As solid electricity consumer, greenhouses are using a considerable or even the entire amount of the produced energy on the spot without any costs nor losses related to electrical network distribution. The availability of electricity allows application of artificial lighting in PV greenhouses, as a result extending the duration of the photosynthesis process up to 16 ÷ 17 hours that subsequently significantly reduces plants growth time. |
