Conference: Perspectives and achievements within European Integration of Moldova
Abstract:
Food is a daily necessity for people. People need a wide assortment of agri-food products, starting with vegetable products, such as fruits, vegetables, cereals, etc. and finishing with rational amounts of agri-food products of animal origin. The quality and safety of food must correspond to the conditions and practices that are used in order to preserve the population’s health through the consumption of agricultural and industrial products. The development of economic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, which have already gone through several steps, have brought visible results, so that currently the European Union is our strategic partner, towards which we depend with the greatest degree of confidence. As research methods, there were applied methods such as dynamic and structural analysis, as well as comparison and synthesis, which allowed the formulation of justified conclusions, based on the results of statistical data analysis. The foreign trade indicators of the Republic of Moldova by groups of countries and by product categories served as analyzed statistical data, which, being approached dynamically, objectively reflect the stages of European integration of our country. In the presented article, there is argued the need of the existence of quality management systems and/or food safety management systems within agri-food enterprises, which will later facilitate the export of agri-food products to foreign markets. The obtained results demonstrated the importance of the role of food quality and safety and the firm positive impact of European integration on the development of foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova, which has undergone radical changes, having a positive impact on the quality of manufactured agricultural and industrial products and economic development as a whole.
