As for the risk factors that can influence the development of this sector, they are similar to those that influence the agri-food sector in general, with some particularities specific to the horticultural sector. These risk factors may include the following: Climate Change - As previously mentioned, climate change can have a significant impact on the horticultural sector. Adverse weather, such as drought or flooding, can affect crops and the quality of horticultural produce. Diseases and pests - The horticulture sector is vulnerable to a number of diseases and pests that can affect crops and reduce production. Access to finance and investment - Access to finance and investment is also important for the horticulture sector as it requires investment in infrastructure, technology and equipment to ensure quality production and market competitiveness. The level of training and education of the workforce - This risk factor is important for the horticulture sector because agricultural work requires adequate training and specialized knowledge, such as those related to agricultural practices, resource management and production. Market competition - The horticulture sector is a competitive one, so quality, price and access to markets can be determining factors for a producer's success. Transport and logistics infrastructure - Transport and logistics infrastructure is important for the horticulture sector as it ensures the transport of products to the market in a timely manner and under optimal conditions. In conclusion, the development of the horticultural sector in the Republic of Moldova depends on a number of factors, and addressing and managing these risk factors is essential for the success of this sector. Therefore, it is important for the government and relevant agencies to address these risk factors through appropriate policies and measures to ensure the sustainable development and competitiveness of the horticulture sector. |
