Abstract

A historic building has an architectural, documentary, social, cultural, spiritual and sometimes even political importance, but the most important impact it has is the emotional one, being a symbol of a culture, a part of history. Degradation of buildings is a slow process of changing the performance of buildings, as a result of changes of physical and chemical nature that occur in buildings, in their interaction with the environment, throughout their life. Protecting construction materials from possible water ingress is the most reliable way to protect materials from destruction. This is done through constructive measures or chemical protections.
